About Perpetual Motion
In the spring of 2003, Kim Booth and Cam Wirch had an idea. Why not offer running programs for
the folks in our community? It wasn’t an original idea, but in the spirit of the Running Room chain
store that has launched successful running programs across Canada—Kim and Cam thought
they could give the big guys a “run” for their money.  A partnership was formed using Cam’s
expertise in the retail market of fitness equipment and Kim’s 30+ year experience as a runner
and more recently as a coach, the first Beginner Running Program was launched with 15 people
participating in that first class.
In the past 7 years, A&L get active and  Perpetual Motion have offered walking and   running
programs to people of all levels of fitness to over 500 people in our community. We have a
passion to get people fit...and yes, you can RUN!

Meet the coaches of Perpetual Motion.  Our coaches all share a passion for the sport of running
and a desire to share their enthusiasm with their community.  Not only will you learn how to train
for any given running distance, you will become a member of a growing community of people
who have a desire to change their lifestyle.  We offer comraderie and support
- change is not
easy and we're here to help!

Kim , NCCP Level1 Athletics Coach
Kim is the founder and owner of Perpetual Motion. She began running track as a young girl and
spent her junior and high school years pursuing her dream of becoming an elite racer in the 800
and 1500 metre distance aiming for the 1984 Olympics. Thirty-six years later, Kim is still running
and chasing dreams - now sharing her passion for running and other endurance activities with
the folks in her community. Kim has taken her own running journeys from track racing to
marathons and triathlons and developed running programs to suit just about anyone.
In partnership with Cam and Colleen Wirch, owners of A&L get active in Brandon, the learn to run
programs began in the spring of 2003.

Jackie, NCCP Level1 Athletics Coach (certifying)
Jacqueline Beckta grew up in Winnipeg Manitoba.  She moved to Brandon in June 2002.
Jacqueline has been an active long distance runner for 28 years.  During this time she has run
track events of middle distance to the marathon.  Her personal best Marathon time was 3:46 and
Half Marathon time was 1:37.  She has competed in numerous events over the years and her
favourite running event is the half marathon.  Over the past two years, Jacqueline Beckta has
coached Brandon runners for the half marathon distance to marathon distance through Perpetual
Motion since March 2006.  Her desire is to keep training and racing well into old age and to
challenge her self with fitness goals that are attainable and fun.

Over the twenty eight years of running she has put together running and walking programs for
friends and family.  She understands what it takes to be active and motivated to train with a busy
work life that is balanced.  She knows that it is not all just training and competition that defines a
successful fitness program but rather an ability to plan for life in balance through goals that are
realistic and attainable.  Her passion for fitness in her personal life along with her business
development experience has inspired her to open her own business of Professional Speaking,
Life and Business Coaching

Stacy
Stacy has loved running since elementary school and right through to high school taking part in
track, cross-country and various road races. But it wasn’t until a couple years ago after taking a
10km and ½ Marathon clinic that she became so passionate about the sport! Since then she has
completed five half marathons progressively achieving PR’s, in Brandon, Winnipeg, Regina and
Kelowna. Her personal best for the half marathon is 1:42:15. Her goal for this year is to complete
her  first full marathon at the Manitoba Marathon. Future dream marathon races for Stacy are New
York, Honolulu and (of course) Boston. She hopes to make running a lifetime sport and to share
her passion with others.

Deanna  NCCP Level 1 Athletics Coach (certifying)
Deanna is busy updating her profile.

Shannon

Shannon is a reformed couch potato who listened to Kim's admonition to "get off the couch and
out the door!". She had her nose in a book through most of her public school years. Although she
ran sporadically during college and graduate school, she found it difficult to progress
without any coaching or training goals. She pursued other activities such as aerobics, weight
training, hiking and skiing for the next decade. In 2003, she signed up for the first Learn to Run
course offered by Kim in conjunction with A&L get active. Shannon was amazed at how she
was able to increase her time and distance by setting and meeting reasonable goals as the
course progressed. She was hooked on running, taking the advanced Learn to Run and Getting
Faster Programs, and participating in 5K and 10 K races. As a side benefit to her increased
level of fitness, she found that her other outdoor activities became more enjoyable and less
fatiguing a painful.
